 Synopsis :

Filem Ombak Rindu hasil karya novelis Fauziah Ashaari, Izzah, gadis yatim piatu yang kematian ibu dan ayah akibat kemalangan jalan raya. Justeru itu, ayah saudaranya, Taha, mengambil tugas memelihara Izzah. Isteri Taha cukup tidak senang dengan kehadiran Izzah dan menuduh Izzah membawa bala dalam keluarga mereka.

Pada masa sama, Pak Cik Taha banyak berhutang. Disebabkan kesempitan wang dia sanggup menjual Izzah kepada seorang tauke kelab malam. Izzah terpaksa mengikut kehendak ayah saudaranya walaupun hatinya meronta.

Di situlah dia berkenalan dengan seorang pelanggan bernama Hariz. Hariz sanggup 'membeli' Izzah dengan harga yang mahal dari tauke kelab itu dan mahu membawa dia keluar dari neraka jahanam itu.

Atas permintaan Izzah, akhirnya Hariz berkahwin dengan Izzah, tetapi dengan syarat semuanya mesti dirahsiakan.

Kehadiran Mila Amylia, anak Tan Sri Rashdan, model dan pelakon terkenal akhirnya menggugat kebahagiaan Izzah dan Hariz. Apakah mereka bermadu?

Hanya di tempat tersebut hijabnya akan dapat dibuka. Sejurus sampai di tempat yang dikatakan, Rafael disambut oleh seorang makcik tua bersama anak perempuannya. Rafael hairan bagaimana makcik tua itu mengetahui hajatnya untuk membuka hijabnya. Rafael dibawa ke suatu tempat di ceruk hutan. Di situ makcik tua tersebut mula membuka hijab Rafael. Dari pandangan yang kabur, perlahan demi perlahan akhirnya Rafael dapat melihat sesuatu yang menggerunkan.

Dia berasa cukup gembira berbaur takut. Rafael meminta masa sehari untuk dia menggunakan ‘kelebihan’ yang ada pada dirinya itu untuk tujuan menjiwai watak lakonannya. Pulang kembali ke rumahnya, Rafael tidak menyedari ada ‘sesuatu’ turut menumpangnya pulang. Mula berasa tidak selesa, Rafael cuba untuk tidur namun gagal. Ada saja benda yang seperti mengganggunya. Setelah hampir 24 jam hijabnya dibuka, Rafael kembali ke rumah makcik tua tersebut untuk menutup kembali hijabnya. Berjayakah hijab Rafael ditutup semula atau dia terpaksa meneruskan hidupnya dengan ‘anugerah’ itu?

Milking a little more out of the popular 2010 NHK drama, Sono machi no kodomo (the movie version) edits and distills the original TV footage into feature length. Like Before Sunrise, the story follows a couple of 20 somethings over a long night. In this case, though there is much less of the slacker romance and chemistry of Before Sunrise and a much more didactic dealing with the trauma of the 1995 Great Hanshin earthquake. Yuji (Moriyama Mirai) meets cute with Mika (Sato Eriko) at the Sannomiya Station in Kobe. They wander the streets of Kobe talking of life and their respective childhood traumas. The night leads into the day of the 15th anniversary of earthquake. Yuji moves on and Mika goes to the big public memorial. Moriyama and Sato give their best – Moriyama himself having witnessed the earthquake’s destruction of Kobe as a child. They develop an easygoing natural feeling relationship, but the endless talk they are burdened with by screenwriter Watanabe Aya makes the getting there a bit of a slog.
